Assembled Set of Antique English Dinner China: Minton, Cauldon and Ashworth- 26 Pieces

$2,925.00

An assembled set of fine antique English porcelain including 10 Ashworth (10 ¼ inch) dinner plates, 15 (9 inch) Minton dessert or salad plates and a large Cauldon charger. Colorful and decorative, the different patterns look festive together in a classic English Country aesthetic. Ashworth Bros. plates: a lively palette of pinks, greens and blues fill a chinoiserie garden vignette inside a flared and scalloped rim edged in bright terra cotta iron oxide red. Ashworth began business ca. 1861 and later took over the moulds and designs of renowned Mason’s (Ironstone), and the Ashworth mark sometimes, as here, uses a similar crown motif. Ca. 1880. Minton plates: Four are earlier plates with London retail backstamps and the other 11 have custom marks on the backs by indicating a custom order for the Philadelphia retailer Wright Tyndale & Van Roden, active from the late 19th century-ca. 1930. The earlier plates have some wear and fading from use, the others show minimal wear, great colors, two with oxidation in the centers. Cauldon piece: a late 19th century English serving platter with a raised pie crust rim, in an unusually fresh and brightly colored palette of green, turquoise, pink and orange. Marked “Cauldon.” Good condition with glaze craquelure, some original glaze imperfections as made. All in very good, ready to use or display condition, with light wear, no chips.
