Continental Trumeau Gilt Framed Mirror, “Boating With Swans,” Early 19th Century
$2,995.00
A delightful French or Northern European trumeau mirror with a very fine painted oil on canvas scene in the upper section depicting a couple boating with their little girl. The little girl tosses bread crumbs to a swan and her three babies. The couple, the lady in particular, are dressed in the fashions of the early days of Napoleon’s reign in the first French Empire. Colors and gilding are bright and condition is very good, with craquelure and light signs of age. Frame has been nicely regilded, and mirror plate has been replaced with a mirror glass with subtle faux antique speckling.
