A pair of very comfortable Louis XV carved fauteuil armchairs painted in celadon blue with cream details. The backs are caned and the the seats are webbed and upholstered with very comfortable thick cushions. The chairs date to the mid 18th century and are estampillé “PHILIPPE” on the rear left stiles by their menuisier maker. With some distress and worming to the underlying wood, the chairs show their age, but are sturdy with later paint, caning and subtle yet bold new woven blue and cream upholstery. Light patina and attractive distress to the paint.
