Large Set of Antique Imari Mason’s Ironstone Dinnerware, 61 Pieces
Large Set of Antique Imari Mason’s Ironstone Dinnerware, 61 Pieces
A wonderful large and ready to use set of antique English Staffordshire Imari dinnerware made by Mason’s between ca. 1890 and 1920. There are 11 10 ⅛” dinner plates and an array of accessory pieces suitable for use and display. There are 60 pieces of the “Windsor Pattern” pattern, which combines transfer designs with handpainted and gilded coloring and details. There is also a single “Lyre Bird” pattern plate which is very decorative addition. Ironstone was a type of very strong and durable porcelain developed early in the 19th century and patented by Miles Mason in 1813. True to its name, this set is in very good condition overall with only very light wear, mainly to very small areas of the gilding, some with typical crazing, variations and small artisanal irregularities to the glazes. A salad plate and a deep saucer dish with shallow repairs to the back sides, not visible on the fronts, and one shallow soup bowl has had a well done rim repair. Stamped Mason’s marks with handpainted pattern codes on the backs of each.
