Of an interesting rich olive brown tone with applied decoration of cream colored oak leaf garlands encircling the perimeters and a hunt scene filling the body of the dome, this two part cheese platter and dome bears an “S” along with an impressed flared asterisk mark on the bottom. The asterisk is associated with Wedgwood ceramic bodies produced in the late 18th/early 19th century before the Wedgwood mark was routinely used on all of the firm’s products, indicating an early date for this piece. Excellent condition, typical slight irregularities to the body and color, as made.
