A very chic pair of light fruitwood and burl elm bookcases (also suitable for display cases) painted black inside with later mirror backs. The tracery door designs with arches and circles are very elegant and finely executed giving a hint of architectural character. Each bookcase has inlaid panels of subtly contrasting burl elm and minimal black ebonized moldings and the slim edges of the tracery are also set off in black. The bookcases are fitted for adjustable shelves, three later black wooden shelves per bookcase are included (for a total of 6) and more shelves could be added later if needed. First half of the 19th century.
