Set of Four Early English Sporting Prints, Richard Blome, Late 17th Century

$0.00

A group of four attractively reverse glass gilt and black matted hand-colored engravings from “The Gentleman’s Recreations,” ca. 1686, by London publisher Richard Blome (1635-1705), illustrating fox, hare and stag hunting. This is one of the earliest known British publications on these matters. Other portions of the book covered the “Liberal Arts and Sciences,” agriculture and other other outdoor pursuits, with many dedications in honor of the original subscribers included within the illustration plates.
