A pair of “fine hand colored engravings, “Cocou de Palétuviers de Cayenne” and “La Vaneau Suisse” late 18th century, finely matted with high quality filage surrounds and gold finished wooden frames. Martinet (1731-?) was born in Paris and worked independently as well as with the Comte de Buffon on the encyclopedic work Histoire Naturelle which included 9 volumes on birds, published between 1770 and 1783. Laid paper. Engravings in very good condition, very light toning, mainly to the Coucou, frames in good condition, very light wear.
