Two sets of six 19th century intaglios featuring portraits of a variety of important historical and political figures. These precious and decorative pieces were popularly collected in the 18th and 19th centuries by European and American gentlemen on the Grand Tour of Italy. These portraits include well known French finance ministers and intellectuals such as Colbert, Necker, Turgot and Monge as well as British politicians, military and other prominent figures such as James Fox, St. Vincent, Lord Beresford, and Kosciuszko, among others.
