A very fine and large pair of decorative gilt wood vases with elaborate brass repousse floral compositions springing from the tops, probably Italian. The metalwork is in very good condition, with boldly formed sunflower flower heads arrayed on patterned stems and acanthus foliage. Original forged iron armatures support the compositions from the back. Good antique condition overall with attractively patinated and distressed gilt surface to the vases, (typical worming, chipping, restoration). Probably early to mid 19th century.
