A classic English handwoven wirework fender with brass surrounds. The lower border is a wide brass moulding resting on attractive reeded ball feet. The top is a rounded and flattened brass fitting with sizable finials that line up with the feet below. There is a black painted sheet iron spark guard that is fitted into the back, to prevent sparks from blowing under the fender. Ca. mid 19th century. Good antique condition, with minor signs of age, polished brass with very light patina, More signs of age and use evident on the black painted inner metal liner, as to be expected.
