Spanish Baroque Style Bronze Chandelier

Spanish Baroque Style Bronze Chandelier
A very fine solid bronze cast chandelier with eight candle arms, an impressive form based on 17th century antique Baroque designs. Centered upon a sculptural axis composed of turned elements terminating at the bottom with bold gadrooning and finial, volutes branch out into squared candle arms bearing handsome candle cups. The nozzles can be fitted with glass bobèches or left without. Please see detail photos for appearance with and without the bobèches. Candle sleeves are good quality cream painted paper with attractive faux wax drips. The highlight of the chandelier is the portion of the axis above the candle arms where handsome bronze elements with wonderful bellflower detailing surround a fine putto figure. The canopy is similar, with fine Classical cast details. More chain could be added upon installation to adjust the height if desired. Ca. Mid-late 20th century. A small brass plaque inside the canopy bears a “Made in Spain” label. Good condition, artisanal irregularities, as made. Light patina.
H: 39” to the top of the chandelier, 45” to the top of the canopy
Diameter: 31 ¼”
