Pair of Finely Framed and Large 18th Century German Botanical Engravings- Hyacinths from the Hortus Nitidissimis

Two very fine hand colored copperplate engravings from the encyclopedic book Hortus Nitidissimis by Christophorus Jacobus Trew in magnificent frames. One image by naturalist, artist and art dealer Adam Ludwig Wirsing (1733-1797), plus one image by Johann Michael Seligmann (1720-1762): the Seligmann is from the 1750’s. Hand coloring is done in gouache, giving the images an unusually painterly and substantial effect.
