American Chippendale Federal Mahogany and Parcel Gilt Constitution Mirror with Ho Ho Bird Crest
American Chippendale Federal Mahogany and Parcel Gilt Constitution Mirror with Ho Ho Bird Crest
$5,400.00
A fine ca. 1780’s American Chippendale Federal wall mirror with a scrolling broken pediment which flanks a central pedestal holding a Ho Ho bird with outstretched wings standing on a branch springing from a bit of rockery. The pediment is nicely carved in low relief with conforming acanthus, terminating in rosettes with foliate pendants. The figured mahogany frame is gracefully proportioned and set off by gilt moldings with additional gilded leaf and flower pendant carving at the sides. Very good antique condition showing signs of age, with bright original gilding, good refreshed finish. Mirror plate is an old replacement with some desilvering and natural signs of age, surface scratches.
