Pair of Large New England Tiger Maple Chippendale Chests of Drawers

Pair of Large New England Tiger Maple Chippendale Chests of Drawers

$12,850.00

A rare assembled pair of American Chippendale three over four high chests of drawers of highly prized tiger maple timber standing on tall and well shaped bracket feet with notably tightly scrolled spurs. These are by the same maker, probably made very close in time to one another in the late 18th/ early 19th century, northern New England. The graduated drawer fronts show off the handsome timber. One has more dark patination than the other and brass drawer hardware of very good quality and of appropriate form, but later. Sporadic old losses to the drawer edges. The other chest has less dark patina, original hardware and some tight restorations to some drawer edges, some age related separations. Both very sturdy, in over all good antique condition, with normal signs of age. Negligible differences in measurements.
