A very finely figured English flame mahogany “Hepplewhite" chest of drawers with book matched timber on the four drawers and a single board of exceptional timber on the moulded top. Each drawer is further embellished by light string inlay and cross banding, which both elevate the aspect of the front above and beyond the average. The piece has a sporty look, between the zippy timber and its stance, perched on tall French feet. Original polished brass hardware. Ca 1800. Good antique condition, very nice French polished finish, a few small discreet restorations, planing of the understructure visible across drawer fronts in certain light.
