A very fine and rare pair of carved walnut Louis XV period chairs with slender outswept cabriole legs in the front. The front feet are somewhat unusual, almost trifid in form. Distinctive carved sprigs of foliage shoot up the legs and fill the apron. Similar deeply carved foliate elements studded with rose like blossoms also fill the reserves of the seat back frames. Freshly upholstered in Robert Allen linen “Neo Toile,” coral. Good antique condition, sturdy, with signs of age, worming, typical losses to some edges of carving, typical scattered well executed restorations.
