A fine and nicely configured English case piece with a graceful glass front case in the upper section, with A fine and nicely configured case piece with a graceful glass front case in the upper section, with adjustable fitted shelving, three shelves per side, suitable for books or display. The tracery of the doors is elegantly designed in a variety of interlocking pane shapes. The lower section is designed for storage with three drawers on each side and a cabinet in the center that contains one shelf. The timber of this piece was chosen for both good color and figure, particularly notable in the fine inlaid ovals featuring book matched flame mahogany within satinwood stringing. The structure of the bookcases is comprised of three separate pieces: the architectural cornice with dentil carved molding, the upper glass front case and the lower cabinet. Late George III period, ca. 1800. Good antique condition, typical signs of age, some wear, dings, overall good finish.
