French Cast Iron and Marble Topped Pastry Table

This is an antique cast iron pastry table, with the soft gray painted finish and gilding of the decorative finials and turned elements refreshed. Original top of beautiful Rosso Verona marble shows wear and artisanal light chisel marks in the carved surround, indicating its age, ca. late 19th century. Easy to imagine this piece in a Parisian patisserie ca. 1890 or in anyone’s home today, serving as a great bar table. The top has been professionally repaired: staples and epoxy on the underside have it tight and sturdy, nearly imperceptible on the top side, wonderful character with seashells and lovely patterning.
