An elegant carved small Rococo period oak console table with two sinuous curved legs and a tight carved apron that twists and descends organically to meet the legs from a central carved shell. The sides likewise spring out from the cartouche carved corners to carry the outswept profile of the marble top. Foot pads have been tipped. A later moulding has been fitted just under the top to raise the table height by 1 ¼”. Retains original gilding with heavy wear, chipping and sporadic losses throughout, resulting in an attractive worn and rather subtle gilt wood surface. Marble top appears to be original.
