“View of Birseck Castle,” a 13th century edifice, and “View of Liesberg, near Lauffen”, with both scenes found in the vicinity of Basel, Switzerland. These charming landscapes were engraved by Maillet and Borgnet after original artwork by Nicolas Pérignan, peintre du roi (Louis XVI), created following his travels in Switzerland of 1776-77. The first volume of engravings was published in 1777. In beautifully hand painted French mats with gilt filage.
