A fine pair of original hand colored 18th century copperplate engravings of South American birds: the “Perruche de la Guiane” and the “Geai de Perou.“ Martinet (1731-?) was born in Paris and worked independently as well as with the Comte de Buffon on the encyclopedic work Histoire Naturelle which included 9 volumes on birds, published between 1770 and 1783. In fine vintage early 20th century gilded frames. Slight toning to the paper, minor wear and toning to the frames, very good antique condition overall.
