A very finely executed piece of miniature German case furniture, composed of figured walnut in a bowfront form with attached upper case of breakfront profile with the center portion projecting, the case fitted with little drawers and a central cabinet. The case is topped by an outswept curved and carved pediment. The center door, when locked, would have also locked both the left and right hand drawers as well, making the piece a sort of a strong box. Miniatures like this were made primarily as craftsman’s samples, but were also acquired, as they are today, as charming objects and curiosities. Probably second half of the 18th century. Good antique condition, missing key.
