Duo of Polychrome Delft Plates
A coordinating duo of colorful classic Delftware plates, one a very large charger, accompanied by a smaller one. The decoration is similar, with floral compositions blue, bright yellow and green sprouting from the green ground line. The larger plate has the appealing addition of manganese purple in the palette. Re: the smaller one- provenance: deaccessioned from the Minneapolis Institute of Art, collection inventory number hand painted on the back. Both in good antique condition with typical rim flakes and chips, more so to the large charger, which also has a two small restorations to the rim. Both with artisanal irregularities and firing flaws. Ca. late 18th century.
