An 1850’s lithograph botanical study, Plate 54, from the 108 plate publication by John Lindsey and Joseph Paxton known as Paxton’ Flower Garden. This plate shows the leaves, roots and flowers of a pink and cream tropical orchid (Trichopilia marginata). Attractively matted in pale salmon with skillful filage and an applied gilt filet, all within a silver gilt wooden frame. Some heavy toning at the margins, mainly top and bottom.
