A fine and unusual pedimented mirror with half columns richly ornamented with gilt mouldings., the design is very chic and assured, with the bold Neoclassical relief carved elements in the frieze matched by equally dramatic and dimensional cartouche medallions and design elements at the sides. Mid to late 19th century. The reeded ebonized filet provides a sharp visual contrast between the mirror plate and the gilt frame. Good antique condition with normal patina, variations to the good gilt surface, some typical wear/losses to the edges, a few small restorations.
