A large and impressive gilded pier mirror, very good quality with wonderful details: pearl borders, egg and dart moldings and very bold Rococo scrolling elements combined with flowers in the crest and corner festoons. A combination of gilded wood and finely moulded plaster, typical of the ca. 1880-1900 period. The border glass is canted in a cushion frame format. Very good antique condition, some typical wear to the gilding from age and use, showing some red clay bole and gesso, patina, separations, small restorations, later back board. Probably original mirror glass- center panel is beveled. Provenance: a Park Ave. NYC. address
