Grey Painted Louis XVI Style Console Table with Marble Top

Grey Painted Louis XVI Style Console Table with Marble Top
Likely Belgian, this versatile French Neoclassical style console table is grey washed oak: with a thinly applied medium grey paint finish, showing hints of warm natural wood beneath and attractive quarter sawn oak grain in the larger panels. A single drawer is fitted into the slim D-shaped front, with precise mouldings, well carved ribbon scrolls and rosettes elegantly framing each panel. Front legs are fluted and tapered. A lower shelf and paneled wooden back creates a perfect space to display a big decorative object. Marble top is a fantastic old piece of pink and cream mottled slab with a nice molded edge. Ca. first half of the 20th century. Very good antique condition, light wear, intentional light distress to the paint.
