An elegant pair of wine coasters with decorative serpentine shell and acanthus relief elements binding the rims. These are a bit wider in diameter than most. Turned wooden inserts. Probably late 19th century. Silver in good condition with an attractive and noticeable amount of copper showing through the silver of the body, some cracks/distress to the wooden inserts. Highly polished and lacquered so they will not need further polishing.
