A very handsome narrow carved and gilded pier mirror with crisp three dimensional carving of a fruit and flower filled basket in the top section. Laurel branches are especially finely executed. An attractive surface with heavy distress, some losses to the gilding throughout. Retains wooden back and original glass with desilvering. The wall mounted console is matched in size and features open guilloche carving in the apron and acanthus carved supports. The console has a more weathered surface, has probably been regilded at some point long ago, and touched up more recently. The dark grey marble top is an antique fossil marble. Hanging height is adjustable. Late 18th century.
