English Georgian Oak “Coachman’s” Bench


A very attractively paneled 18th century bench, or “settle,” with cabriole legs in the front and long slender arms with scrolled ends enclosing the sides. Mid 18th century, a type of sturdy utilitarian furniture typical of the informal portions of an English country house.

Seat is webbed and covered in an unbleached cotton. No cushion is present.
