A very finely carved arched Louis XVI period fire screen resting on a trestle base. The moulded framed is comprised of layers of deeply carved husks, guilloche and finally, at the edges, a boldly carved ribbon spiral. Retains original gilding and tapestry insert, probably from Beauvais. Late 18th century. Provenance: private collection, prior to that, Christine Magne Antiques, Charlottesville, VA.
